About Port and Sava

GARY PORT. Gary B. Port was admitted to practice law in 1986. He was commissioned in the United States Army in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, December 23, 1986.He served three years on Active Duty at Fort Bliss, Texas. He returned to New York in 1990, and became an assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn.After having prosecuted a number of major crimes, he left the D.A.’s office for private practice in 1993. Mr. Port is a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Reserve, currently assigned to the 4th Legal Support Organization in New York. His practice consists of general ligation. Approximately 40 percent of his practice is family law. He also engages in commercial litigation, performs business incorporations and represents clients in personal injury matter. He defends service members at Courts-martials, assists them in correcting military records, as well as prosecutes medical malpractice claims against the Veterans Administration Hospitals.

In 1999 Mr. Port was recognized as the outstanding military instructor for West Point's Intercession program. He was been awarded the the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation medal (4 oak leave clusters).

GEORGE SAVA. George Sava received his B.A. from Radford University in 1991, and was awarded his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1996. In 2002 he attended the Harvard University, Harvard Extension School. He was admitted to practice law in 1997. He worked at Flood, Donohue Johnston & McShane, P.C. where is ultimately was made the firm manager. He later founded his own firm and created an of counsel relationship with the preeminent Gaughlin Group, a major entertainment law firm. He finally joined with Mr. Port to found Port & Sava. Mr. Sava’s practice consists of commercial litigation and personal injury actions. Mr. Sava has engaged in a variety litigations in state and federal court. Mr. Sava is also a sports attorney, and represents several NFL and NBA sports figures. Mr. Sava is also conversant with movie financing, intellectual property, and various legal issues related to movie production. In his most recent project, he was the co-producer of the award winning movie Staten Island.

Mr. Sava is a veteran of the Global War on Terror, (Operation Enduring Freedom) and former Aide-de-Camp to MG Terpuluk. Mr. Sava is the receipent of the Meritorious Service Medal,Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (two oak leaf clusters) and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.

Samantha Chen. Ms. Chen is a paralegal and the office manager. Generally, she is the first voice heard by anyone calling the firm. Born in China, Ms. Chen, a naturalized American Citizen is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. Ms. Chen is in the United States Army Reserves and is up for promotion to Sergeant.Ms. Chen is currently mobilized in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

Heather Hicks. Ms. Hicks is a senior at St. Johns University, and is a ROTC cadet. Ms. Hicks will be taking the LSAT in fall, as she prepares her applications for law school.

Valerie Calderon. Ms. Calderon is a graduate student at St. John's University. Upon graduating May of 2009 she plans to take her LSATS next fall and apply to law schools for the 2010 year. Ms. Calderon is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Italian.
